Apparently, membership really does have its privileges.

At this year’s Zone Conference, District 5360 was recognized with a new award, and I was fortunate enough to bring a little hardware home on behalf of all of you.

Last night, I was honored to get up in front of 900 Zone 25, 28, 29, and 32 Rotatians along with President Yinka, Incoming President Larry, and our respective RI Directors to accept the Doug Logan Growth Award, a new award which will be given out annually.  The Award recognizes a district in each zone that marks the highest net membership growth in the past three years, including at least two years in positive territory.  We received this award thanks to the net increase our Distrrict experienced between 2023 and 2026 of +26.  There are a number of conttibutors in our district to this honor, including Kurt, Manon, and Jeff!!!

We’ll let the award have its moment in the spotlight, but what interests me even more is the story behind it.

At some point, someone identified a goal, decided it mattered, wrote it down and started working toward it. Then clubs and Rotarians across our District did the work that turned that goal into a result.

There is a lesson in that as we begin developing our club and District Action Plans for the year ahead: goals matter. Writing them down matters. Measuring them matters. And then doing something about them really matters.

An award isn't the reason we do the work. But sometimes it is a pretty nice reminder that intentional effort produces results.
