Anna Minarik

Anna is passionate about improving access to neurological care in low-resource communities and understanding how stronger health systems can help close persistent gaps in diagnosis and treatment. She holds a First-Class Honours BSc in Neuroscience from Dalhousie University and has worked at the University of Oxford as Programme Manager for the Oxford Martin School Programme on Global Epilepsy. In this role, she has coordinated research and implementation projects with partners across Brazil, India, Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Nepal to strengthen access to epilepsy and neurological care.
Her interest in health systems grew from her work in rural Zambia, where she helped establish EEG services at a local clinic. The experience highlighted that improving diagnosis alone is not enough when people cannot reliably access treatment or continued care. She later co-founded the Mfuwe Epilepsy Foundation and has since continued working on projects spanning epilepsy, dementia, stroke and maternal health.
Through the Rotary Global Grant Scholarship, Anna will pursue the MSc Public Health for Global Practice at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She plans to build on her experience in global neurological health while deepening her understanding of health systems, policy and implementation, with the aim of designing practical, sustainable approaches to neurological care in resource-limited settings.
Alongside her work in brain health, Anna is a documentary and editorial photographer. She is particularly interested in using photography to tell stories about health, communities and lived experience.
